Evidence For the Existence of God - William Lane Craig (by drcraigvideos)
Greg Koukl wraps up his series looking at whether private personal revelation from God is normative and biblical. In short, no!
The claim “we can only know that which has been tested scientifically” is itself a knowledge claim, and one for which there is no scientific test. It’s not a scientific claim at all, but a philosophical claim, and it falsifies itself. It is self-referentially absurd, and necessarily false. No amount of further discovery will make the claim of scientism true.
How do you respond to an atheist who says “I just believe in one less god than you do.”?
As much as I like Greg’s response he missed the full quotation which goes “I contend that we are both atheists. I just believe in one fewer god than you do. When you understand why you dismiss all the other possible gods, you will understand why I dismiss yours.”
I think his response still stands up though. Firstly, so what?! Yes you do indeed believe in one less god than me. That is a mere statement of fact and does nothing to advance the argument. The problem with the second part of the statement is that it tars all religions and gods with the same brush. If you want to disprove my beliefs then you cannot do that without showing why the evidence I have for my beliefs is false or wrong or not trustworthy.
